In spite of all the moves, separations, losses, abandonments, and general family disorganization and stress, Mrs. Delours reported that Randi exhibited no developmental difficulties; standing at 6 7 months, walking at 13 months, talking at 15 months, and being toilet trained at 2 ½ years. Randi had no serious childhood illnesses, and revealed no unusual behaviors (including no enuresis or encopresis).
Randi was born in Cairo, Egypt. Mother reported that "the pregnancy after three months started spotting and I was given medication to prevent a miscarriage and all activity was restricted." During the pregnancy the family made several unexplained moves within the city. Randi's birth, the second live birth of Mrs. Delours, involved a five hour labor (which was induced). "I had some medication strapped to my wrist which inhaled and it worked as an anaesthetic." The father, who had some medical training, participated in the birth.
Doctor’s first interview was arranged as a home visit with Randi’s mother present. Randi was a boyish looking female, dressed in asexual clothing, with her short hair styled in a masculine fashion. She had been self administering male hormones for several months and revealed some male hair pattern growth, a slightly lowered voice, and, reportedly, an increase in her sexual drive. She looked like a mannish female.
